After reading Remembering it really made me think about all the things that I write. i didnt reall think about all the ways that youcould read a story or all the ways that you can write a story. "Reading people's accounts of important people, places, and events in their lives may be the most enjoyable kind of reading we do."(p.159) I totally agree with this statement. When I read a story about other people and there experiences, it makes me really get into the story. Like the book that we had to read over summer. I loved it because it made me really think about what this kid had been through. i gave me that "That hasn't happened to me, but I can see how important it was" kind of feeling. I did find some parts of this essay a little much. Like about the Strategies for Reading and Writing Remembering Essays, that was a little much. When will I ever need that in my life. All in all this was a informative essay and it was a good thing to read just in case I do need to write a Remembering essay.

I agree with your ideas of how understanding and taking in someone else’s experiences is one of the most enjoyable types of text to read. As you stated, I too feel as though I am able to transpose myself into the author’s shoes and allot of times while reading a remembering essay I get the, “Yea, I would have done the same thing” feeling or just think and reason out what I would try to do if I was in the same place and/or situation. I agree that this essay did read like a text book and was very instructional and at some points too instructional, but I credit this to the reality that it is in fact a text book. All and all this essay was just a lesson given at home so we could hone up on our remembering essay writing skills and do good on our second essay. In which we write a remembering essay.

I agree with you on everything you said. I didn't know that there was so many ways to read or write a story either. As you said, some of the things in the essay were a little too much. There was a lot of repetition. I'm not a big fan on informative essays. I also agree with the statement on pg159. Memoirs of a Boy soldier was a booked that I enjoyed. Ishmaels' story was very interesting. His book made me want to keep reading. I love reading a book about someone’s life. After I finish reading it seems as if I was right there beside them experiencing what they experienced.
